Interview with Jose M. Lazaro

Jose M. Lazaro he is one of my favorite artist, with great talent he made very realistic characters and atmospheric, noir scenes.
He have the talent to made fantastic project in the future.

At the next lines is a small interview with Jose M. Lazaro.

Questions

When did you first realize that you were an artist?

When I was a child I started to draw illustrations, it was a obsession for me.
I spent a lot of time drawing, in fact, I didn´t like to study.
So, Create was a expression for me. After, I developed my skills in fine arts and I found computer graphics.


What famous artists have influenced you, and how?

Well depend. If I want a specific style I see differents artist.
But it my last illustration I saw some noir films and I was influenced by Gordon Willis,
cinematographer of Godfather.
I really love lighting in films...and Rembrandt, the father´s art.


How long did it take to develop your own style?

I think I don´t have style. Probably I´m still developing it, but it´s difficult for me
because I love many styles!

What's the best and worst parts of being a full time, working artist?

The best part is the work, I love my job.
The worst part is to have a bad day.


Do you pay attention to art critics?

Yes, critics are important for me.
I like destructive critics, they are the best to improve but few people can do it and they must be family or friends.
Sometimes critics wasting your time, be careful.


What other interests do you have?

Music, I used to play drums.I need to buy another drums a play again, but right now it´s dough pizza.
I want to do a holidays in Italy to learn the secret.

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?

Patience. The classics artist spent their childhood to create exquisite art if you learn
and work hard like those artists you can do it.
