Stephen Molynaux he is one of my favorite artist, with great talent he made very realistic characters with natural attitude.
He have the talent to made fantastic project in the future.

At the next lines is a small interview with Stephen Molynaux.

Questions

When did you first realize that you were an artist?

I had always had an interest in art through my school and college years.
My biggest regret was not going to study a fine art course before going to university.
I chose to study a BSc degree in animation and Special effects with little focus on the artistic side.
I certainly need to practice more traditional 2D skills such as drawing and possibly traditional sculpture.

What famous artists have influenced you, and how?

I live in London and i visit the National gallery regularly.
I get much inspiration from paintings and sculpture.
Looking at the masters work gives me the motivation to get home at night and do some work.
My next piece of work that i will produce is influenced by Frank Frazetta.

How long did it take to develop your own style?

In 3d i think its more difficult to create your own style. I think my style is still in development.
I don't have a big enough portfolio to see this through my work.
I hope over the next few years a noticable style will be noticable through my work.

What's the best and worst parts of being a full time, working artist?

I work in the VFX industry in London. In a big city there's very little time outside of work hours to do personal work.
Its great to work on exciting projects and work around talented people.
But the work can sometimes be non creative and i find the need to push myself on my own personal work.

Do you pay attention to art critics?

-

What other interests do you have?

I like looking at photo-journalism to get ideas for personal work.
I also have started to become interested in traditional sculpture.
Love watching movies and watching football Smile

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?

As a 3d artist it would be important to learn the old school modeling techniques in a 3D program before jumping into Zbrush.
Keep your topology clean and learn techniques from different areas such as Modeling, Texturing and Rigging and lighting.
Also practice traditional art and learn your anatomy if doing character work.
And when using Zbrush or Mudbox practice loosing up your hand.
